Scripture Reading 1 Samuel 3: 11-21

Verse 19: The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel's words fall to the ground.

Many people grow up in Christian homes, where the word of God is all around them. It sounds like an ideal environment to know Christ. Yet, some people flourish like Samuel, and others go astray like the sons of Eli. I was fascinated by verse (19: The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuels words fall to the ground.) I wonder if we could see ourselves, the way the Lords sees us if that would be the automatic switch that would change our thinking. God hears our fears, hurts, pain, and even the things that are left unsaid. He will not allow our words to fall to the ground, no matter how we feel.

Samuel believed and was assured that the Lord was with him. Because of this belief, he allowed the Lord to guide and direct him. We can also let the Lord guide and direct us. We have a choice, we can choose to hear the word of God as spectators, like the sons of Eli, or we can choose to believe, the word of God as the absolute truth above all else, even our internal rival, like Samuel did. God's word must become real for us. The question is, how do we get there? How do we understand that the Lord is with us and will not allow our words to fall to the ground? Today perhaps is a day that we should take some time out to appreciate the goodness of the Lord and stay in his presence, just knowing that he is there and listen for his direction. You may not feel him, be persistent, and surround yourself with his word, because he is always there.

Dear Lord, help me to acknowledge your presence with a sense of knowing that you will not allow failure unless it is used as a building block to promote my future. Amen
