Dial Christ for Love

I have been doing a lot of cooking lately, mostly because I have the time to do so, I am making dishes that I have not made in ages or trying new dishes for the first time. Today’s dish is Caribbean style stew beef, really what makes the dish Caribbean is the seasonings, as I chop up the seasonings I remember my aunt, my dad, and my mom in the kitchen waking up early to cook Sunday dinners and I am flooded with pride. I am also reminded that all the fresh seasonings we use are what brings the dish together with all the rich rhythmic flavors. Matthew 5:13 comes to mind “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” As children of God, we are the salt of the earth, together we should display our saltiness by showing love to one another. As we spend time in this new state of socially distancing, this is the perfect arena to be the hands and feet of God, drawing closer to Him and reconnecting with the people in our lives without the busyness of the world. We can do this through prayer and good old fashion conversations. Let’s reach out to one another and lift each other up, let’s add our individual seasoning to the pot. As we reach out to each other, we will discover and define other areas to grow in Christ. He will reveal specific things and needs so we can pray more effectively, we may even discover a richer prayer life and a closeness to others that would have been disrupted with the everyday busyness of our normal lives. As we Solidify our relationship with Christ, one of the results will be hearing His voice clearly. Understanding exactly where God is directing you in this season of your life. This is the time for you to draw closer to Him so that He can teach you as it states in Psalm 86:11 “Teach me your way, Lord that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that may fear your name.” Instead of fearing the unknown or the latest pandemic to hit us as a nation. I challenge you to turn your attention and focus on God and His people (each other). Who knows this may be the season that your loved one may be saved; it may be the season that Christ’s will for your life is made clear? Continue to learn and grow in this place, so that the beginning of your next chapter will allow you to walk in faith knowing what is stated in Psalm 119:11 “ I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Let today begin a new phase of your relationship with Christ, one built on the loving understanding that our faith in Christ; is directly connected to the love He has for us. We can rest assured that He will ensure our victory over the fears of the world. As I close today let us keep 1 Corinthians 13:13 in our hearts “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” & John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Love triumphs over fear every time as a child of God victory is in your DNA.
