The Peace Hijacker

The realities of life should not be ignored. We cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend that everything is okay when it’s not; if we are unwilling to make necessary changes, then, unfortunately, we have made a decision. Like the Israelites that lived in the desert for 40 years, due to their fears, many of us became accustomed to the status quo. We accept things as they are. At times we tend to focus on limiting circumstances and not God. Life gives us ample opportunities to ensure that our focus is divided. For example, this week, I encountered such a situation at work. Life has been relatively peaceful lately. I have found myself wanting to get closer to God. I have been seeking Him more, and my time with Him has been consistent. It seems like things all around me were getting better, and I was at peace. You heard me correctly, and it was beautiful until one regular workday I received a peace hijacker, in the form of an email. This hijacker aimed at my peace, and my first thought was frustration, and here we go again. Yes, someone call 911 this email disturbed me. I was so worried by the content of this email that it took me a moment to regain my composure. I re-read the email, and then I did something that I generally use as the last option I sat at my desk, prayed, and asked for guidance on how to handle the issue.

When I finished praying, The Holy Spirit blessed me with the words to respond to and were perfect. When God steps in, you know that the game is about to change, I regained a level of peace, but I had to work harder to maintain it. Truth is God tells us the He is our peace as in Philippians 4 6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your request to God. And the peace of God, with Transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” It is incredible to me how little things can creep in and disturb your peace change your attitude, and allow you to be off-kilter the rest of the day. Once my focus was back on God, my day stabilized, and I was able to go about the rest of my day unbothered with my peace and smile intact. Today I would like to suggest to you that there are times in our lives where we need to call Christ 911 to come and regulate a situation. I find it easier when you start your day with Christ. If you did not get the opportunity to do so before the hijacker arrives, it’s never too late to call on His name. May I suggest praise music or my personal favorite repeating the Lord’s prayer out loud, inviting God Into the situation. If you are unable to pray for yourself at that moment, call a friend because, in the twinkle of an eye, your peace can be disturbed, but just as quickly, it can be reset. As we get ready for another week to be on the lookout and be aware of the peace hijackers, they come in many forms, recognize them and take the issue Christ quickly to restore balance.

Love you all have a fantastic upcoming week, continue to be safe.
