One of the most effective tools of the enemy is fear of the unknown, this type of fear does not stop you from living. It just stops you from experiencing true freedom. The story of Queen Esther in the bible is a story that depicts one of the dangers of this type of fear. In the story, Mordecai had to remind his niece of the power she possessed in Christ. In Esther 4:13-14, "He sent back this answer: do not think that because you are in the king's house, you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" There are times in our lives that God asks us to trust Him. When it seems impossible for us to make a difference, we may feel like there is nothing we can do to impact the world or our community in today's current climate. We may feel insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Our thoughts may tell us that our contribution is too small to have a ripple effect. In the book of Esther, we see that small choices can have a major impact. Imagine the fear she must have felt walking in to see the king without being requested, and this bold move could have resulted in her death.
Oh, but God, what Esther did is a testament to doing it afraid. She sought God in her moment of fear. As stated in Psalm 34: 4, "I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears." God not only bestowed favor, but he also bestowed to her wisdom. Our God is a planner. He does not make mistakes. Let me encourage you to read or re-read the book of Esther. I am struggling with a decision; as I write today's blog, I know that at the core of this decision is fear. This struggle indicates that the enemy is working overtime to make sure it does not materialize. In other words, God is waiting on us. As I write, I am praying for the courage to be obedient because if I (we) remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise from another. Today the challenge for us all is simple obedience. Decide to walk past the fear because we have the power to do so. 2nd Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
Remember, God loves you, and so do I.
