This morning I took advantage of an amazing privilege. I went to the beach to watch the sunrise. As I sat there waiting in great anticipation for the sun to make its grand entrance. I thought about Genesis chapters 1 & 2. In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. And still, so many years later, I can see and experience the artistry of our father, God. When I read the first two chapters, I read them as one. Chapter one lists the order of creation chronologically. Chapter two provides the creation details—for example, Genesis chapter 1 verses 26 & 27 states. "Then God said, let us make man in our image in our likeness So that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds of the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over the creatures that move along the ground. So, God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female he created them."
In chapter two, verses 15-23, as the story continues to unfold, we now get the details they state, "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, you are free to eat of any tree in the garden. But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die. The Lord God said, it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man calls each living creature, that was its name. So, the man gave names to all livestock, the birds in the sky all wild animals. But for Adam, a suitable helper was not found. So, the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made woman from the rib he had take out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said. This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be call woman for she was taken out of man."
Our gracious Father place human beings here in His image to take care of His creation and each other. I believe we should still be in ahh of what an amazing responsibility it is for us to be created in the image of God. What an awesome assignment we have to take care of all that God has created, including each other. I encourage you to re-read Genesis chapters 1 & 2 and experience the creation story again, this time under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes in life, we must take a moment to step back to appreciate all that is in front of us. Love is visible in every nook and cranny of creation, from the rising sun to the rising of the moon and everything in between God's love is in it all. God did it all for us.
Remember God Loves you and so, do I.
